Description
This course examines the delivery of comprehensive school psychological services in accordance with current ethical, legal, and professional standards guiding the field. Throughout the semester, students will build knowledge of these standards, with emphasis on the Principles for Professional Ethics from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) as well as federal law governing the provision of public education and psychological services in schools. Application of the standards will occur through class discussions; case scenarios, where students must apply a structured problem-solving approach to address professional dilemmas; and a pre-practicum field experience.
