Description

Students as Partners in the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Process: The Learning Fellows of Clark University is a unique approach whereby students taking this pedagogical course serve as partners to faculty looking to improve the learning environment, outcomes, and/or success of students of a course they have already taken. Students As Partners...is part of the Learning Partners Program at Clark University. The Learning Fellows program has three parts- peer embedded support in which small teams of students are compensated to provide in-class, peer-embedded support in a course they have already taken. They foster a stronger sense of belonging and support for struggling learners. The second part of the program is this course where the students who are working as Learning Fellows learn basic pedagogical terms and practices to work with students. Participants of this course introduced to basic pedagogical levers that can be engaged to improve higher education courses using a design thinking/experimental approach. This is a course for non-education majors. This course requires permission of the instructor. Students are not compensated for their time in class. The third part of this program is that we have a weekly huddle. The huddle consists of a huddle leader (usually the Learning Partners Faculty Fellow), the three Learning Fellows for one class and the professor of that class.
