Description
Section information text: This is an advanced seminar that combines an in-depth examination of research in critical ethnography, cognitive development, and the learning sciences, with classroom-based research in a public school setting (focusing on Poetry Inside Out as well as learning progressions of key concepts in math, science and classroom discourse). Participants will select a domain of interest (such as Poetry Inside Out as an innovative literacy program, or new approaches to teaching science based on the Next Generation Science Standards). They will learn ethnographic and discourse analytic research methods, and participate in planning and enacting innovative research and design studies with urban teachers and students.
