SEWING 1: SEWING/GARMENT CONST

Description
This course is focused on the beginner and is a studio crafting class. In this course students will learn about fabric types and characteristics, how to do the most common hand stiches and how to use the costume shop equipment, including sewing machines (several makes and models), an over lock machine, a steam iron, and how to wash and dry various types of fabric. Through several in-class projects the student will learn how to construct a plushie (stuffed animal) or pillow, how to do simple mending/clothing repairs, and construct a tote bag with pockets.
