Description
"Hispanic Identities Around the World" (SPAN139) aims to analyze the diversity of Hispanic cultures within the global space. It intends to delve into the intricate processes by which different nations fashion their national and cultural ethos through the prism of language. Students will engage in a comprehensive analysis of transversal themes including community dynamics, cultural idiosyncrasies, socio-economic stratifications, racial configurations, age and gender constructs, and their intricate interplay in shaping representations of each cultural identity. This examination will be undergirded by a decolonial framework, with an emphasis on the nuances of cultural identity, while also integrating pivotal disciplines such as Environmental Humanities, Social Justice, Cultural Studies, and Gender Studies. Conducted in Spanish.
