Description
An advanced workshop in documentary production. Using digital video technology, students will design, produce, and edit a short documentary on a contemporary social or cultural issue. Student films will be viewed and critiqued in class. In-class screenings, readings, and discussions will identify and analyze the elements of effective non-fiction storytelling, and will explore realities and decisions faced by documentary filmmakers, e.g., point of view, objectivity, voice, and the ethical dilemmas often confronted by the documentary filmmaker. To take this course, a student must be proficient in the basic skills of production. Students will be charged a V & PA lab fee upon registering for this course.
