Description
Health psychology is a flourishing field that is devoted to understanding the interaction between psychosocial factors and health. This course provides a broad overview of theories, concepts, methods, and applications that form the core of health psychology. In this course, we will consider several areas of health and illness across the life span, including: stress and coping; the health care system; prevention and treatment of illness; etiology and correlates of health, illness, and dysfunction; and health promotion and maintenance. Students will also be encouraged to consider the ways in which psychological factors interact with social, cultural, economic, and environmental contexts to influence health. Must register for discussion. Prerequisites for this course require a grade of C- or better This course fulfills the Basic Processes requirement of the Psychology major
