Description

We will read Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War and discuss its historical context inthe 5th century BCE. Much of our attention in class will be devoted to a handful of strategicdecision-points in the War. We will weigh considerations of justice, short- and long-term security, economic sustainability, and other concerns. Indeed, we will debate these decision-points-bothin small groups and as a class collective.
