Description

This interdisciplinary course explores the critical concepts of diversity and equity to imagine and realize just and inclusive worlds. By engaging in conversations with each other and with visiting faculty from other departments, and through assigned readings, students will hear diverse perspectives that address how categories of identity (race, gender, sexuality, class, and ability) impact the way we learn and live and investigate the ways social structures and institutions can reinforce or challenge inequality. NOTE: This is a device-free course for class meetings. Students are not permitted to use cell phones and computers in the classroom. All reading materials will be provided on the course Canvas or via hard-copy handouts, and on the classroom screen. (Use of devices in class must be pre-arranged and approved via appropriate procedures.)
