Description

How has the geography of global politics shifted in the past 100 years? How is the environment related to global politics? This course is an introduction to political geography and global environmental studies. It will examine how geographers have developed understandings and theories of geopolitical struggles from the 20th century to recent and current affairs like the War on Terror and conflicts in the Middle East, the "rise of China", artificial intelligence and social media in new hybrid wars, COVID-19, the Russia-Ukraine war, the Amazon, the Arctic, food, water, and refugees in an age of climate change. Formerly titled "Geopolitics, Climate Change, and Current Affairs"
