Section information text: Concentrates on the Mediterranean region, tracing the history and methods of archaeology-emphasizing its unique combination of the sciences and the humanities-from its first steps to its technologically advanced state today. Selected case studies will demonstrate how archaeology has illuminated the ancient world. Also examines the newly developed field of underwater archaeology.
