Description

Section information text: To be effective, today's managers need to be able to answer important questions. For instance, will a new incentive system for financial consultants encourage superior performance or lead to unethical behavior? Will introducing environmental sustainability goals really change employee behavior? Good answers to such questions come from solid research. In this course, students will learn how to perform research that answers pressing questions about managing people and organizations. They will also learn how to evaluate research performed by others so that they are wise consumers of that research. Students will master tools and techniques (experiments, surveys, interviews) used in organizational research, and evaluate current research on pressing management topics (e.g., sustainability, ethical behavior). Using knowledge gained in the course, students will identify research questions of interest to them and design research to answer those questions. Counts as Experiential Learning Requirement II for the MBA program or as an elective. Please note: Course previously listed as MGMT 5900 Special Topics: Research - Answering Important Management Questions. Students who took the course under that designation should not register for this, as it is the same course. Previously cross-listed with a CAP designation.
