Description
Section information text: This first-year intensive, run as a seminar, will immerse students in the study of how Americans have interacted with their environments, ending in the present and looking to the near future. It will focus on key themes, moments, and debates, with a particular emphasis on New England and the Worcester region. Local and regional field trips to key sites will complement the readings. It will encompass aspects of environmental history; the evolution of US environmental law, policy, and social movements; and the role of both the United States as a country, and individual Americans as citizens and consumers, in contemporary environmental politics and interactions
